Choosing the right drug detox can mean the difference between success and failure.

When looking for help for themselves or a loved one with a prescription drug problem, people are often unsure which detox program is best. Choosing the right program could mean the difference between success and failure in overcoming prescription drug addiction. Different types of drug detox programs are available and each one has its advantages and drawbacks.

For most people drug detox is just the start of full rehabilitation. It is primarily a method of withdrawal, and does not address why the person became addicted in the first place – for that you need a successful drug rehab program. Nevertheless, withdrawal is the necessary first step to rehab and to get someone with a prescription drug addiction problem to even agree to quit, it is often necessary to find a drug detox program that can effectively handle prescription drug addiction detox, is safe, and is as comfortable for the addicted person as possible.

Some drug detox programs simply provide a setting where the person is kept away from all drugs, fed, housed, and watched over to ensure they don’t encounter any serious medical problems. They are basically withdrawing ‘cold turkey’, with nothing to relieve the pain or other withdrawal symptoms. For many with a prescription drug addiction problem, this type of drug detox is very hard on the body, and very traumatic.

Another type of drug detox program basically amounts to substituting a different drug for the one the person is already taking. The person arrives at the detox center, is given a drug that helps relieve the symptoms of withdrawal, and leaves the center on the substitute drug – possibly chained to it forever. If they want to get off the new drug, they may well have to go through another drug detox. This is obviously not a good choice for someone with a prescription drug addiction as they have just replaced one prescription for another.

Then we have ‘rapid detox’, promoted as the fastest route. You arrive at the facility, usually a hospital, and, after medical examination and other preparations, are put under general anesthetic for between four and six hours – the person is basically ‘out’ while a strong drug is pumped through their system.

The most talked about aspect of the rapid detox method is the fact that you are technically done within hours. However, recovery from the anesthetic and physical stress put on the body can take several days, and the person is likely to continue to have side effects and symptoms for weeks. In fact, most people leave rapid detox centers on medications designed to handle the after-effects of the detox.

The best method of detoxing from prescription drugs is the gradual withdrawal technique. The person checks into a medically-supervised, comfortable facility where they are helped through withdrawal by the use of drugs that help alleviate the symptoms. This differs from the ‘substitute drug’ method as the person is given the withdrawal drugs only for a short period of time, and is no longer taking that drug when they leave.

There’s no quick fix for drug addiction. The first step is a drug detox program that can successfully deal with prescription drug addiction. Then finish up with a drug rehab program that addresses the reasons behind the addiction. With these steps done, the person can get their life back.

Religion, or one’s personal belief on the existence or non-existence of a Supreme Being (and the strength of that belief), and how to conduct their lives including ceremonies and rituals. Having an addiction would be when a human feels a strong impulse to have, need, or desire something to such a serious point at which it could be dangerous or uncontrollable. What these two have in common is the fact that when religion is used to assist in the process of recovering from an addiction, the idea of “Christian Drug Rehab” comes into mind of a large percentage of Christians.

A Christian drug rehab would not have been the first of its kind when it comes down to using religion to aid in the rehabilitations from addictions. About 75 years ago, a twelve-step plan was introduced to help alcoholics become clean called “Alcoholics Anonymous,” otherwise know of as “AA” in abbreviation. Shortly after the great success of AA, two other twelve-step programs would surface named “NA (Narcotics Anonymous)” and “OA (Over-eaters Anonymous) that would also prove successful along the same lines that a Christian drug rehab would be.

Introducing religion into a case of drug addiction has multiple pros, and few (if any) cons The optimistic voices of the stronger believers and support groups such as Christian drug rehab would be heard saying quotes such as: “If God could split the Red Sea then He can help a man break an addiction. Christian drug rehab would be a pro to helping those in need, because it’s always nice to know that somebody is there for you that understands and cares.

Rest assured that although Christian drug rehab is one way to go, it is definitely not the only way to go. Catholics also believe in healing through spiritual means. In Catholicism, one that is suffering or in need of healing due to sins or sickness (addictions included) would go to a spiritual leader or healer, who is usually a church official, and ask them to pray for their healing.

Articles have been posted on-line telling about people and family’s problems with their issues on drug addictions. Sometimes these articles may mention that Christian drug rehab was a good step towards solving problems. Christian drug rehab is good for the youth, especially for those who tend to be softer than others and would just appreciate the help that is necessary to get them back on the right track.

Christian drug rehab is almost sure to make any Christian feel comfortable much sooner than he/she would if enrolled in a regular rehabilitation facility. This is due to the fact that a Christian would naturally have more in common with another fellow Christian. This would be great for helping people to find and meet new friends with similar problems, that way they could help each other through their issues and healing process.

If a person would go to a regular rehabilitation center, then (assuming that the rehab was a success) upon recovery, the patient would exit the center as a healed person thats trying to stay clean. However the effects of attending a Christian drug rehab center would be multiplied, considering the fact that the same person would be leaving this center with the support of fellow believers. This support goes a longer way than most people would actually believe.

As stated previously, religion brings about a serious change when it comes to healing and lifestyles. Christian drug rehab would not only assist an addict in their healing process, but would allow them to see that when you believe in something and in God, anything is possible. If you know someone who is in need of attention for the healing and rehabilitation of addictions (especially drugs), you should find and inform them about a local Christian drug rehab center.

Drug and alcohol treatment centers may take enormous pride in their faith-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation psychotherapy programs. The program operates with the traditional “twelve steps” and helps drug and alcohol addicts find their way back to sobriety through a program of Delaware Christianity-based programs. People who enroll in a faith based drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment program can count on expenses some time studying the scriptures in the Old and New Testaments.

Michael Jackson’s death has raised public awareness again about the common problem of prescription drugs. We are now as the public demanding that doctors who knowingly give what for many ends up to be a lethal amount of prescription substances accountable for what they do. We mourn the loss of what for many was the icon of their youth and wonder why Mr. Jackson and so many other celebrities can access so many addictive drugs like the average person order’s pizza.

Anyone who pays any attention to the news knows that even for the general populace addiction to prescription drugs is seen by some experts as being at a record high. Many folks feel like they can hide their addiction because no one really questions you’re going to the pharmacy to get just what the doctor order. Prescription drug use and abuse did not have the same stigma for the abusers as ‘street drugs.”

Many people feel sorry for the prescription drug addict, because the doctor gave them the drugs and the addiction is viewed as some unfortunate medical accident. We seem to overlook the fact’ like all addicts, prescription drug addicts lie, steal, and cheat to keep themselves in the prescription drugs they are addicted to. Mr. Jackson was reported by some of his ex employees to have asked them to get prescriptions of painkillers in their name and give them over to Mr. Jackson. Some of the folks who refused to do this kind of thing felt they were fired for not complying.

We also need to look at the cost to society in loss of productivity and life due to prescription drug abuse. Those who are addicted to Vicodin, Zanax, or Oxycontin miss a lot of time at work. They are either at home in drug induced phases or making up ailments to gain more access to the prescriptions they are addicted to. I am not sure we will actually know how much property damage or death is caused by drivers addicted to prescription drugs. Only those who appear seriously impaired would probably be tested by authorities at an accident scene and someone high on Vicoden does not reek of alcohol.

There is a public awareness of the problem of teens getting high out of their parent’s medicine cabinet. Those five pills that are a couple of years old you have left over in your medicine cabinet are probably not going to lead to your teen’s addiction to painkillers.

The 20 pills your teen takes regularly out of the two bottles of a hundred Vicoden each that you went to two doctors in two different towns to get might. You may deceive yourself into the fact that you have a chronic pain condition, but in truth is regular use of painkiller leads to the painkillers not being effective anyway.

There are alternative methods of treating people with chronic pain. Acupuncture, bio feedback and just losing a few extra pounds have brought pain relief to thousands. Still there is no magic cure for chronic pain and certainly no magic pills. Pills that work at first eventually stop working, even if the addiction to them remains for many of those who suffer from chronic pain. We set the example for our kids even more than the king of Pop or a reality show model. We must make sure are kids understand that just because it came doctor does not mean prescriptions are a real cure all.

We need to discuss prescription drug addition with are teens because once they are addicted from raiding our medicine cabinet the next level of addiction will have them forging prescriptions or ordering mail order prescriptions off the internet. The cost of most of the addictive drugs is not as draining on our teen wallets as the street drugs and most will not get caught popping a pill at the water fountain in the hall at school. We need to examine is our own attitude to the pop a pill for everything example we are setting for our youth. It is better to show your teen’s healthy ways to deal with pain, and then show them the ultimate solution comes in the form of a pill. Death is a pain that no one really ever recovers from, and they have not invented the prescription drug to reverse it.
